2019 Toyota Fortuner – in a new body! The Toyota Fortuner, also known as Toyota Hilux XW4, or just Toyota SW4, is a mid-size SUV hugely popular in Thailand, Philippines, and India. A few years ago it also came to the Australian market. It is based on the IMV platform developed by Toyota. The original model was produced in Thailand. The first model of the Toyota Fortuner was built in November of 2004, and a little later, in early 2005, it was release
.
The first generation of Fortuner had four different engine types –
two petrol and two diesel units. Common to all models was that every one
of them had a front, rear, and four-wheel drive layout, and 5-speed
manual transmission and a 4 or 5-speed automatic transmission. But, the
modern version intended for The Land Down under comes only with a single
powertrain, and only six-speed transmission.
The second generation was introduced in July 2016, and 2019 Toyota
Fortuner is going to be a part of this generation. This new-gen Fortuner
features a part-time 4WD system instead of the full-time 4WD system
which is used in the previous versions
Exterior
The high body of the previous model has been criticized as unstable,
and not aerodynamic when running at higher speeds. The Toyota decided to
decrease the elevation and width to enhance aerodynamics. The front
bumper is large with fog lights, LED lights and daytime driving lamps.
The Toyota Fortuner 2019 comes with standard 4-door chassis made of
hardener metallic and aluminum shaped outlines around the side. Fortuner
exterior with modern lines makes this vehicle very pleasant to the eye.
2019 Toyota Fortuner: Interior
The interior of the new 2019 Fortune is upgraded. The cabin ensures a
level of comfort, and usability even with seven seats that are easy to
bend for a quick change to a family-friendly transporter. These seven
seats are in the in the 2-3-2 arrangement and covered in leather. Though
the Fortuner has seven seating places, which reduces the leg space, it
is very comfortable for the family.

The dashboard, which keeps controls buttons and knobs, now has the
LCD touchscreen of impressive dimensions, although audio controls and
adjustments of cruise control are set on the steering wheel. The colors
that might be a part of the interior of Fortuner 2019 have shades of
grey and beige.
Features
Standard features of this vehicle include Bluetooth, six-speakers
Sound system, rear parking sensors and a review camera. You will have to
pay extra if you want the Navigation system, keyless entry and start,
and hill descent control. The hill descent control is a system which
permits very slow speed, steep hill descents by individual braking
wheels.
It operates under 30km/h. Also, Active traction control (A-TRC) is
one of the features that new Fortuner might have. It automatically
distributes the drive wheels for better control in slippery and uneven
surfaces. For better traction, you can optionally choose the leather for
the steering wheel also.
Powertrain
2019 Toyota Fortuner will come with only one engine option as it was
the case so far. Toyota sells this vehicle as a diesel alternative to
its Kluger model, so hence only an oil-burner in its shop. In accordance
with this, the unit under the bonnet of this SUV is a 2.8-liter
four-cylinder turbodiesel engine. This is the same powertrain used by
Prado and Hilux. This comes as no surprise as Fortuner is loosely based
on Toyota’s highly popular truck.
The power output of this mill is set at 132kW which isn’t too
impressive. The part that sounds quite better is its torque which stands
at 450Nm. The transmission offered is a 6-speed manual and an automatic
with the same number of gears. Interestingly the Toyota officials claim
that 95% of their customers will go with an automatic gearbox. This
gearbox comes with paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel.

2019 Toyota Fortuner: Release date and price
Toyota usually shows the Fortuner at the end of the year, so maybe we
can expect it to be displayed at one of the biggest Asian car shows.
Most likely in India, in October of this year, because of the vast
popularity Fortuner has there. The price is not known yet, but
considering the previous models, it is anticipated that the starting
price will be around $45.500. Based on current releases dates, a brand
new SUV of Fortuner model is scheduled to be released to the market in
the near future.
